Daniel Goleman

  • A leading psychologist who speaks often to many different audiences who want to learn about emotions. Daniel Goleman is a true emotional intelligence leader, being the person who made the term "emotional intelligence" common public knowledge with his ground breaking book.
  • While employed as a science journalist by the New York Times, Goleman wrote about the brain and the behavioral sciences for a long periods of time. Goleman's 1995 book, Emotional Intelligence, was on The New York Times bestseller list for over a year-and-a-half!
  • Goleman is one of the founding members of the Collaborative for Academic, Social and Emotional Learning (CASEL). Goleman’s book, Working With Emotional Intelligence indicates that workplace competencies developed on emotional intelligence are crucial in top performers. 
  • He maintains that both individual employees and firms will gain greatly from developing these skills. Goleman is a co-chairman of The Consortium for Research on Emotional Intelligence in Organizations


Joshua Freedman

  • Freedman offers research, training, and keynote speaking. 
  • He is a founding member of Six Seconds EQ Network which advocates for emotional intelligence in schools and workplaces. 
  • Josh has initiated EI programs in Italy, Singapore, England, India, Canada, and Mexico. He is the co-developer of Six Seconds’ EQ Certification Training. Freedman has personally delivered this training around the world. He is the author of Handle With Care: An EQ Activity Book, the EQ Learning Journal, and Self-Science EQ Curriculum.




Reuvan Bar-on

  • The “Bar-On model” is one of the leading models to emotional intelligence used by many around the globe.
  • In 1985, Bar On coined the term “E.Q.” (“Emotional Quotient”) in regards to assessing emotional and social functioning. John D MayerMayer together with Salovey defined the term "emotional intelligence". These two are the leaders in the field as they did the pioneering work in this area.
  • Dr. Mayer has been a member on the boards of the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, Psychological Bulletin, , and the Journal of Personality.



Peter Salovey

  • Research carried out by Peter Salovey and his Health, Emotion, and Behavior Laboratory relates to two main areas in personality psychology. First, the psychological function of human emotions and secondly to the ways of applying the research in personality psychology to the promotion of health protective behaviors.
  • Salovey's research pinpoints the psychological function of people's emotions and feelings. He investigates the application of social psychological principles that are the motivators of individuals to change behavior that protects their well-being.
  • Together with his research partner, John D. Mayer, Salovey created a framework, named "emotional intelligence". This framework was used to term how people manage, utilize and know about their feelings and emotions.
  • John Mayer and David Caruso, together with Salovey created measures of EI. There measurement was done with a series of abilities tests. The Mayer-Salovey-Caruso Emotional Intelligence Test or (MSCEIT) was first available in 2002. His work today looks at the predictive validity of EI in workplaces, schools, and social relationships.
  • Salovey’s research into health behavior offers field experiments that analyzed how educational/public health communications can be better customized to enhance prevention and early detection. The main behaviors he is studying are related to cancer and HIV/AIDS victims.

The research in this area has moved forward by leaps and bounds and continues to provide us with useful and practical tools to help develop this area of well-being in our everyday lives. The experts and leaders in this field are an inspiration to us all!
